THE ANNUAL DINNER

The Dinner is held during November/December annually at The Army & Navy Club, Pall Mall, London, SW1.

Every Old Boy is entitled to one "free" dinner within seven years of leaving the school. Any other dinner taken within seven years of leaving will be subsidised at the discretion of the Committee.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society takes place prior to the Dinner and a FREE BAR is available at this time.

Details of the Dinner can be found in The Oratorian or are available from The Chairman.

THE REQUIEM MASS

The Annual Requiem Mass for deceased Old Boys takes place annually in The Little Oratory, Brompton Road, SW7 every November. Details of the exact date and time are published in The Oratorian, on the Website (www.oratorian.org.uk) and in the national press.

THE ORATORY SCHOOL SOCIETY FOUNDATION

The Foundation is a charitable trust set up over 25 years ago following a proposal made by the late Sir James Comyn. Its prime purpose is to support pupils at either school, whose family suffer some tragedy which otherwise would require the student to leave the School. Over the years the Foundation has enabled a number of students to complete their education.

As the Foundation’s funds have grown, other types of financial support have been developed. In the last few years it has established, and helped to fund the Newman Sixth Form Scholarship intended to help pupils who would otherwise have been unable to complete their A level years at the School.

As at 1st January 2000 the Trust’s funds were approaching £250,000, notwithstanding the sizeable amounts already donated.

One of its main sources of income is the Foundation’s own 200 Club which has been going for 15 years and is now for the first time close to having 200 members. It is hoped that in future years the Foundation will benefit to the extent of over £2,500 per annum from the club.

Grants towards Gap Year Projects

Depending on its other commitments, The Foundation is willing to provide some modest financial support for pupils still at the School or in their initial leaving year, who undertake projects likely to be of benefit to others, under the sponsorship of a Registered Charity.

All applications for funding for a particular calendar year must be received by the Secretary no later than the end of September of the previous year, for consideration at the Foundation meeting at the end of October. These applications should be accompanied by a supportive reference from the Headmaster.

All successful applicants will be expected to submit a brief report of their project/expedition, which may be published in The Oratorian.

Applications should be submitted to:-

C.J. Sehmer,
Secretary, The OSS Foundation,
Witley Court,
Petworth Road,
Wormley,
Surrey

THE "200" CLUB

The "200" Club provides a substantial source of funds for the Foundation. It has been going for over fifteen years and has almost 200 members. It is anticipated that when the magic "200" figure is reached the Foundation will benefit to the extent of over £2,500 per annum.

Old Boys are invited to join the Club. The cost is £24.00 per year, payable by Standing Order or as a one-off donation. If you are not already a member, please complete the attached Standing Order form.

Further information about the "200" Club (including recent results)  is available here.

RULES OF THE SOCIETY

A Copy of the Rules of the Society is available from The Secretary.
