Old Boys' Football
The annual School vs Old Boys football match was very sadly postponed this
year due to the excessively inclement weather in January. The rain was relentless
and proved to be a dampener on the whole affair. A re-match will be scheduled
for later in the year - to allow the most time for the Old Boys to get into shape.
All keen and aspiring heroes are welcome. If you would be
interested in joining the squad, please contact James Purnell on –

The 1st XV faced their toughest fixture card ever, and they rose to the
challenge.
Among the highlights of the season was the win against Rugby School. It was
a great privilege to play on the Close at Rugby School: not only was it on the
200th anniversary of the birth of William Webb Ellis, but also we won! What
an achievement.
I doubt if we have ever had such exciting matches as the games against
Cranleigh, Stowe and St Edward’s Oxford. Only for a cycloptic referee in the
match against Cranleigh over-ruling a last play-of-the-game try, we would
have taken the scalps of one of the strongest schools in English schools’ rugby
at the moment. The wins against Stowe and St Edwards, in particular, saw that
the season finish on a high.
With the lower age group teams all doing well and the Junior Colts unbeaten,
we can look forward to next season with confidence.
